Techint E&C designs and builds power generation plants in the entire range of conventional and un-conventional technologies: from fossil fuel – oil, gas and coal - fired units, in conventional thermal, open cycle and combined cycle configuration, to nuclear, hydroelectric, waste-to-energy plants and renewables. Techint aims to be the preferred partner in power generation projects based on its extensive capabilities, track-record, reliability and strategic alliances with key producers of equipment and turbines.
Transmission lines & substations are also part of the Techint E&C capabilities, as far as consultancy, engineering and project management services both for new plants and retrofitting.
We implement state-of-the-art gas turbines, steam turbines, boilers with high efficiency and low emission technology, including pollution – NOx, SOx, CO2 – control technologies.
We have extensive experience in industrial equipment, covering all power plant ancillary systems, such as fuel and residues handling and treatment, water treatments, main and auxiliary cooling, water intake / outfall infrastructures, Balance of Plant, site improvements and plant integration (cogeneration, district heating, etc.).
Techint Engineering & Construction’s experience in the Power segment dates back to the 50s, with the development of engineering and construction of hydropower plants and transmission lines in Argentina and Brazil. Since then, it has acquired a vast expertise in the area, with about 200 power generation plants (more than 11,000 MW installed in combined cycle power plants) and over 200 power transmission lines and substations (with a total length of 23,000 km installed).
The experience and capabilities of Techint in this field are currently being applied in an EPC contract for the 900 MW Central Eléctrica Pesquería combined cycle power plant in Nuevo León, Mexico, to feed TenarisTamsa and Ternium industrial plants in Mexico. This power plant will become one of the largest of its type in the country, applying state-of-the-art technologies and techniques, and complying with the most demanding environmental requirements.
Other prominent projects include Los Caracoles Hydro Power Plant already in operation in Argentina and the current construction of the hydroelectric plant Punta Negra, covering both engineering and construction activities. In the Andean region, as EPCM, we constructed a 520 MW combined cycle power plant for SNC Lavalin and Fenix Power Peru. In Egypt, we have almost 30 years of experience in balance of plant (BOP). One of our most recent project is Ain Sokhna 2x660 MW thermal power plant.
