Techint Italy is to build a new sulfur handling terminal for Gasco worth more than 600 million dollars.

In a consortium with Al Jaber, UAE's largest construction and erection company, Techint Italy has signed a contract in Abu Dhabi to build a new sulfur handling terminal worth more than 600 million dollars.

The facility will be built on an EPC basis for Gasco, a subsidiary of the state-owned Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC). Specifically, Techint is to supply all the machinery to be installed inside the terminal for material handling operations: sulfur unloading and storage, subsequent transfer to the new wharf where two shiploaders will load the sulfur on to ships.

The project, officially known as the "Granulated Sulfur Transportation and Management Project Ruwais Terminal SHT-2", is part of Gasco¿s larger Shah Habshan Railway (SHR) project. This also involves construction of a new rail track to transport the granulated sulfur produced in the new Shah and Habshan plants to Ruwais, a city to the east of Abu Dhabi.

This project is a milestone in raising the visibility of Techint in the strategic Gulf area and it's Techint Italy's first project in Abu Dhabi, where Techint has been present since 2009.

The handover is scheduled for the end of 2013.
